  • Parking:  Best bet is street parking or outdoor parking directly in front of the Ocean Place Hotel at the LM Ocean, LLC. outdoor lot, located on Abbotsford between Broadway and Laird.  This lot will open at 5AM.  Charge will be $5 for triathletes ( normally $15)  as long as you are out by 10am.  After ten, you will be charged the extra $10 and can stay the whole day.   Other spaces are available at Pier Village at no charge, but these spaces are limited.  There is also a parking garage for those without roof racks.  Please do not park on the east side of Ocean Boulevard on Cooper, Madison and other small residential streets just north Ocean Place Hotel.  Please be considerate of the residents.

  • Bathrooms:  Near the circle (north end), also public bathroom about 2 blocks south on the boardwalk and just north of transition area, near bandstand.

  • New design and location of transition area.  Rack sections will be marked to correspond to wave assignment.  When racking your bikes, please try to use the seat to hang on the racks. This will take up less room so we can try to fit everyone in. Don't take up too much real estate, try to alternate both sides of the racks.   Please try to get 8 bikes per rack.  Wrist bands and bike numbers will be given to all registered athletes at packet pickup. You must wear this at all times, it is your entry to the transition area. Athletes only in transition area, please.  In addition, there is security at transition exits to ensure bike security.  Transition area will be broken down starting at 10:30 AM so please make sure you pack up and remove your equipment before then.

Course Details - Swim

The long course first group is at 6:50 AM.  Walk directly down to the beach from the transition area.  Long course swim will be a reverse triangle.  You will go around the buoys, keeping them on your left at all times, you will see the short course buoys lined up, go past them and turn left and straight in to the finish.

Course Details - Bike

We will be exiting the transition area on our bikes heading north along Boardwalk. Please stay to the right and proceed with caution. At the end of the boardwalk, the pavement is rough, take that turn very slowly. It will also most likely be fairly crowded at this point. Left turn there, along the fence at 7 Presidents then make first right. Do NOT go straight out onto Ocean Blvd. Also, be cautious of people entering Seven Presidents Park.

Remember - ROADS ARE NOT CLOSED TO TRAFFIC! Be cautious at all intersections, we have eleven police officers on the course but they are to assist in safety, but you are responsible for watching out for crazy drivers (as usual) People can cross the course and cut you off, at any race, not just this one. Be Safe!!!

VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE

Long Course (2 loops) Bike:  You will ride two loops of the course.  On the first loop you will ride straight on Ocean Boulevard to Seaview  (The Peddler Bike Shop is on the right) where you will make a right turn and then a quick left turn to begin your second loop.   DO NOT TURN BACK TOWARD TRANSITION ON YOUR FIRST LOOP.   You need to continue on to complete your second loop of the bike before following "FINISH" signs.

Short Course (1 loop) Bike:  You will ride only one loop of the course turn right onto Seaview from Ocean Boulevard as above, but continue straight to the ocean, turn right and then turn in to transition area.

It is always the responsibility as an athlete to be familiar with the course

Course Details - Run

2 mile Run (first duathlon run):  Start at "Duathlon Start" sign on boardwalk between swim exit and finish line.  Duathlon will start with the last heat of the each event's wave.  Run one mile south to water table, turn around then back to transition area.

3 mile Run:  Athletes will run left out of transition area, then turn right towards the south end of the boardwalk on the paved path following signs and volunteer direction. Water stop at mile 1 (mile 2 on return) is NOT the turn around.   Continue on following signs and volunteer direction to turn around at very south end of boardwalk, past bathrooms and snack bar.  Please stay to the right.

5 mile Run:  Athletes will run left out of transition area, then turn left again towards the north end of the boardwalk on the paved path following signs and volunteer direction. Water stop at 1/2 mile mark on the way out  (1-1/2 mile on the return) is NOT the turn around. At end of boardwalk turn left then right following along the outside fence of 7 Presidents Park.  Continue on following signs and volunteer direction to turn around as directed to U turn, and follow course back towards transition area. Continue straight south, pass water table at mile 3 (mile 4 on return).  This is NOT the turn around. Continue on following signs and volunteer direction to turn around at very south end of boardwalk, past bathrooms and snack bar.  Please stay to the right.

3 and 5 mile runners : South End turn around point is the same for both distances, at very south end of the boardwalk, past the snack bar and bathrooms.  Please run right of building on the way out and left of the building on the way back.  It is a little tight but the snack bar will be open so please do not run in front of the snack bar on the boardwalk.

Please follow signs and cones delineated to channel athletes and keep spectators of course. Please be courteous to all spectator and walkers, they also belong there and are enjoying the weather and some exercise just as you are. Share the boardwalk.

  • Please make every effort to keep the noise to a minimum when you arrive at the race site. Although for us being up ad chatting at 5AM is perfectly normal, most residents in the area are still asleep!

  • Please remember to thank the volunteers.

  • Please do not drop gel packs or other items on the course. Some races disqualify people for doing that.  Please remove ALL items from transition when you leave.

  • No headphones on the bike or run please.

  • Remember, seconds don't count, safety does.  Be safe and as always HAVE FUN!
